Teeth whitening is one of the most requested and undergone procedures in the cosmetic dental industry. After all, a bright and white set of teeth help you feel confident about your smile and improve social interaction. Teeth whitening can be done in a variety of ways– from DIY methods at home to professional treatments at your dentist’s clinic.

Everyone has different preferences for teeth whitening. Some may choose a whitening toothpaste, while others may prefer a quicker solution at the Bessemer City dentist office. Each treatment may work differently. For example, in-clinic treatments provide quick and best solutions, while toothpaste and mouthwash can be a bit slow to act.

Different types of teeth whitening products and procedures

  • Whitening toothpaste and rinses.

One of the easiest ways to get whiter teeth is by switching your regular toothpaste and mouthwash with another one with whitening features. Whitening toothpaste contains mild abrasives that may help with whitening and removing stains from the surface of your teeth.

According to the American Dental Association, whitening mouthwashes may contain hydrogen peroxide or other chemicals used for teeth whitening. There are even special whitening toothbrushes available in the market.

  • Whitening strips.

Whitening strips are among the most convenient and affordable ways of achieving whiter teeth, so there is no wonder why they are so popular. They are thin pieces of plastic covered in a peroxide-based formula you can find at any drugstore near your house. The instructions state that you need to wear them every day for thirty minutes a day for one or two weeks to notice the results. Once you get whiter teeth, the results should last at least a few months.

  • Teeth whitening kits.

You may have already heard of teeth whitening kits. They are easily available at drugstores and some grocery stores as well. However, it is recommended to buy teeth whitening kits from your dentist only because they contain stronger and more concentrated chemicals which work more effectively. Your dentist can also make custom teeth whitening trays for you. They are more beneficial than the ones available at drugstores.

  • Teeth whitening chewing gum.

Most people do not believe teeth whitening chewing gums to be effective, but they may be wrong. Chewing teeth whitening gums after every meal increases saliva production to rinse food and bacteria from your mouth. Secondly, it contains teeth-whitening ingredients that coat your teeth and prevents them from staining.

If you want to achieve whiter teeth with chewing gums, keep a few packs around and chew one after every meal for at least 30 minutes.
